He asked “Who do people say I am?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others; one of the prophets.”
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.” ~ Matthew 8:27-29
He is the MESSIAH, the Son of the Living God, the I AM that I AM, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, the One in whose name has dominion over everything in heaven, on and under the earth, yet he did it for us.
He willingly came down from his heavenly throne to earth covered with pain, shame and sin, just to restore us back to the Father.
On earth, he turned water into wine, he made the blind man see, he caused the lame to walk, we doubted his power.
We tested his authority and he proved us wrong.
As if that was not enough we betrayed him for 30 pieces of silver not even gold, we devalued him.
We denied him three times that we weren’t one of his.
We called him a criminal with no valid charges against him. We were so eager we exchanged a King for a criminal, I ask was it worth it?
Many voices chorused against him”CRUCIFY HIM! CRUCIFY HIM!!, he was sentenced to be crucified.
Some spat on him, slapped him, others insulted his authority but was it worth it?
We crowned him with a CROWN OF THORNS in exchange for a CROWN OF GLORY.
We mocked his power, he suffered many stripes, he was strike on the head several times with a staff.
We nailed him to the cross, pierced his ribs causing blood to gush out profusely, spilling all over the place.
We served him with a jar of wine vinegar, soaked a sponge in the jar, put it on a stalk of the hyssop plant when he said he was thirsty. He drunk it and said “It is finished”
